A call to action is a marketing technique every Business whether brick and mortar or a blog should master. You commonly hear about them in business and marketing related podcasts, blog posts, and more.
A call to action simply is statement designed to get an immediate response from the person reading or hearing it. Things like “call now!” and “click here!”
You actually see and hear many calls to action a day. Just sit and watching a few commercials on TV.
Common calls to action with blogs are “click here for…” then you fill in the blank with what they will get. Will it be a recipe? A guide of Rome? To learn how to file your taxes?
When doing email marketing it may be “hit reply and…” or “register now while there is still time.”
It may feel like these are over done. Just think about how many you ignore a day. However, the fact is that if you’re offering something something they want, calls to action still work.
If someone is reading one of your posts they may not think to subscribe to your email list. On the other hand, if they see something like “Subscribe to get 10 tips to planning your dream vacation in Europe” they are more likely to do it.
Likewise, getting the readers on your email list to interact with you is something you should always strive for. So, asking them to “hit reply” and answer a question for you can do that.
“Click reply and tell me what your biggest struggle is right now.”
“Click reply and tell me what post you’d like to see on my blog next.”
It can even be as simple as “click reply and tell me what you’re drinking right now.”
The main idea is to get your reader to take action and do what you want them to do.
